Dusted off my little 7m for the powerful wind and big waves. Ooooh she’s quick! Just what you want on waves, well until you get a lull just under a breaking wave. Ouch. So I switched back to the 11m and scared myself silly jumping as high as i could. I don’t know if the beach was going ‘oooooh! aaaaaaah!’ but i certainly was…
As we teach we get a lot of people coming up to us asking ‘will you teach me too?’. Of course we will!
And pretty quickly we’re booked up to the 4th jan!
A nice steady 15/16kts today and not too sunny to hurt your eyes.

we’re singing carols (good king willy last looked out, on a windy day, eh…)
and santa’s brought us some great presents this year - they’re big and fancy coloured and fly through the sky.

I wish it would be cloudy.
sounds wrong doesn’t it - but it’s true. sunny days heat up the wind so it’s less dense, so after about 2 o’clock we have to stop. if it’s cloudy the air is denser and 16kts packs a punch.
give me cloudy days!!

What a view to wake up to…
when the tide is up there’s no beach at hua hin - the water is right up to the front of the hotels. march-may the tide is up at night so that’s no problem but at the moment high tide is the middle of the day. that makes it really hard for kitesurfing!
so our friends one2kite came to pranburi for the day! we all had a great time - it’s nice to see Yo playing on the water - man he’s good! i think their students all had a good time also. it’s such a great spot!

they haven’t been used for a while so i thought i’d try out the big 15 today. she’s a big beast! pulls like a truck - mostly downwind - but if you control it it’s fine. has plenty of lift for backrolls. nice.

15kts, beautiful azure seas, clear blue skies, cheap tasty thai food next to the beach for lunchtime.

our students this weekend work for the euro comission in bangkok. vip guests!! a gentle start for begonia, an exciting start for sylvia, and jordie got up on the board after 8hours lessons. pretty impressive i think! he’ll be back to get some finesse into his technique. sylvia will be back after the new year. she’s got a lot of determination! and that’s what you need - determination, a bit of time, and a good kite instructor! anyone can learn to kitesurf with enough determination…
