Christmas winds!

See for yourself

Now this is wind!

Yesterday was an amazing day here, big downwinder from Hua Hin then sunset sessions at our home turf. This morning we all woke up to 20+ knots, with bruised ribs and aching muscles from the day before………..we say bring it on! Pump up your 9′s

Wind is honking!

Great wind coming through today and a nice early start for the riders!

Windy day ahead!

So we woke up to some nice offshore winds today, the direction should change as the day goes on and we SHOULD have a nice day of solid winds! Students are ready, instructors are ready……….BRING IT ON!

(Special Post) Community Kite Project

Hey Guy’s

A little bit of a different flavour to our daily blog today, rather than the usual wind and wave talk, were featuring a group of local kid’s from Pak Nam Pran (Pranburi), who over the past ten months or so, have been regular users of our handle-pass training swing at the front of Kitezone.

Swinging out over the water.....no fear at this age!!

There are three young local lads that have always shown keen interest in kitesurfing and they often sit and watch the guy’s out on the water as they pop their latest tricks, while thinking that one day…..maybe……..if there really lucky!!

Well as  from yesterday, there one step closer to making that dream of cruising around the ocean and boosting into the air, a reality…….as there now the proud owners of a brand new Squirt 1m trainer kite each, kindly donated by Willy the boss at Kitezone.

Dodging the debris washed up by the flood water from Bangkok, we need a good high tide to wash the last of it away!

Who know’s maybe the next Hadlow or Yo in the making….we plan to keep you posted on there progress and maybe we could be seeing one or two of these guy’s handle passing on the water soon!!

Great to see the kids getting involved in something that is keeping them fit and active, while at the same time, having fun…..no X-Box for these guy’s!!

OK! I’m sure your all keen to know what the winds been doing here today, well…… I’m happy to say, that is been blowing around 17-22 knots all blooming day!!

Here’s a few shots from today’s action!!

Pop’s carving it up!

the wind is well and truly here guy’s, so why aren’t you!!

Two solid days of north-easterly wind!!!

We didn’t need a wind meter this morning, but if we’ had of got it out, I’m sure it would of said “BooooM”…

…That’s two solid days of kiting here at Pranburi and more forecast for tomorrow!, It’s great to finally see all the kiters around here with smiles on their faces and achy muscles from kiting hard!

Willy tearing it up!

Karl and Willy just before they got a little too close for comfort!!

Big shout going out to Michael…our latest student. Had a great second lesson yesterday, really getting to grips with his kite control……board starts tomorrow!!  The fun begins!!

So those of you that have been waiting for the wind to kick in, before your next visit…..it’s here!!!

New cable park for Hua Hin

black mountain Hua Hin Cable park

Finally! Hua Hin gets a Cable wakeboard park, comes equipped with a full cable system from Rixen, with 6 towers, short ropes and an 11 meter height this park is sure to be one of the best parks in Thailand for the future.

With a tentative opening date of december 1st and the obstacles going in this week, we are all very excited for what is about to bring joy to the life of every kiter in pranburi on a no wind day.  We had a meeting there today to organize a partnership between the school here in pak Nam Pran and the park, they have agreed to work together on a close basis and the possibility of a wind or no wind style event is also on the horizon.

Rixen arrives today with pre built obstacles from germany and will spend the next week setting them up, again i was lucky enough to be invited to try out the new park and obstacles this coming saturday along with a load of Thai riders form the Thai Wake park (who will also be running the pro shop on site)

The crossover of cable wakeboarding and Wake style Kitesurfing is quite huge, with more and more people choosing boots over straps, rails popping up on the beaches and events such as windornowind, we may see the start of a new revolution in Kiteboarding, lets face it, what you gonna do when there is no wind and a cable park right on your doorstep………..HIT THE CABLE!

Watch this space for more updates and info on the new wake park, ill post some pics of it in action after Saturdays session at the Hua Hin cable Park

Riding with dolphins today, in Pranburi!!

Just had a sneaky 20min low wind kite session, which was below average…….until………i was joined by a group of dolphins!!! sweet!!

By Jason Kitezone Pranburi.

First north-east session today!!

The kiter’s in Pranburi have a spring in there step today! Woke up to a dull over cast day this morning, not really much wind to talk of, but after my second coffee, i noticed some dark clouds start to push some wind through from the north-east.

Within ten minutes, there were three wind deprived kiter’s pumping like crazy……determined to get on the water and clock up our first north-east kite session of the season!
We managed about half an hour of good riding with reasonable wind before it dropped again, sending Karl on an involuntary downwinder, while Willy and i swiftly returned to the beach to assess the wind and pick up Karl from this little adventure!
stay tuned to stay posted on the latest conditions here in Pak nam Pran…..
Windy regards
Jason Kitezone Pranburi.

The winds of change are approaching!!!

Were not quite there yet, but there’s definitely a different vibe in the air around Pranburi at the moment. The westerly winds that we’ve been getting over the last five months or so have halted, clearing the way for the much anticipated north-Easterly’s.

Every morning for the last five or six day’s the wind has been gradually building from the north east up-to around twelve knots by lunch time…..but then seem to drop again in the afternoon! A real teaser for us resident kiter’s, poised with wind meters in hand and a pump in the other!

Also we are starting to see a few regular faces coming back to our wind swept, sun kissed beach eager to get on the water and blow away the off season blues……

Other news….we are currently working on getting our weather station up and running and back online, so you can get your live wind reports straight from our website!

Also for the more adventurous kiter we are looking into building a slider which we plan having ready for the thermal season, around Feb-March….

…..so keep checking our site for latest info at Kitezone at the beach house Pranburi.
